Amazon Echo Show Review – Unboxing, Setup, Settings, Features and Smart Home Integration

Today, I’ll show you the latest echo from Amazon….the echo show. So, now they added a monitor and a camera to Alexa…and she can do a lot more stuff now. If you already have the Amazon echo, the tap or the dot, then you already know how it works and how Alexa which is amazon’s cloud based voice service helps you provide information, answer your questions, play your music and now it can show you things, play your movies, browse youtube, make hands free voice calls, integrate with your smarthome and for me, integrate with my wifi cameras which I’ll show you later on.

So, let’s open the box…

First thing you will see is the Echo show itself..
on the bottom is the power supply..and some paperwork and that’s it.

The unit itself has some weight on it. I think it is because of the built in speaker which is stereo sound powered by Dolby.

Looking at it you will reminisce the smaller version of the older rear projection TVs from early 2000s.

We have a startup guide which is basically plug in the power supply and follow the on screen instructions. On top we have the on/off button and the volume controls..in the front is the camera and the speakers..

So, let’s take a closer look…these are the controls on top, a non skid rubber pad on the bottom, speakers in the front, the back is the power supply port and bascially that’s it… by the way, it has a touch screen controls too.

So, let’s plug it in..

First thing it will do is to search for Wifi..
Click on the Wifi that we are going to use and type in the password.
It will connect…verify your account with Amazon and set your Time zone.
Click continue and it will prompt you of updates which can take up to 10 mins.

When everything is updated…it will show you a little video about the device which I’ll play for you…

So that is just a snippet on what this device can do…

First thing I’ll show you guys is how you can use the Echo show to browse Youtube.. you can use the touch screen to scroll on the videos or you can use the voice command to play it.

You can also play movies…

You can also play music videos from youtube…
and let’s listen to the dolby stereo sound…

Now, you can also integrate your smart home devices with Echo show…and I’ll show you how to setup my Ring cameras so as to be able to view it from this device.
Open up your alexa app from your smartphone and go to the menu and click on smart home…
Click on smart home skills, enable skills and we will search for Ring and enable it. Click save..then we need to pair my Ring account with the device…so we will need to log in..and authorize, close the window and click on discover devices.
Go back and you should be all setup.
