Caught with your zipper down? use a key ring to hold your zipper up with your pant button

Zippers are designed that when the handle is flipped up or down, it will lock preventing it from zipping down. Occasionally though, it either breaks and you will be caught with your zipper down. I have a couple of jeans that does this. I guess I just been wearing it for too long.

So, instead of throwing or donating your favorite jeans or pants away, you can use a small key ring which should be a little bit bigger than the pant button and you can hook the zipper handle to your pant button. It will guarantee that the zipper will not go anywhere until you unhook it from the button.

Make sure that the key ring is big enough that it can go over the button easily. You don’t want to take longer time maneuvering and manipulating the key ring when you are in a hurry to use the bathroom.

This hack should also work with a hook and eye clasp type of pants. It might just need an extra step and some maneuvering to get the key ring in between the hook and the eye.
