Arlo Pro 2 vs Reolink Argus 2 – Comparison Of Their Features, Video Quality Daytime and at Night

Today, I’ll be comparing the Reolink Argus 2 to the recently released Argus Pro…what are the differences? Is it worth the extra 30 dollars to get the Argus 2 instead of the Argus Pro. Let’s find out.

Then, we will compare the video quality especially the night vision between these cameras and will add the Reolink C1 Pro in the mix. BTW, guys, from all the testing that I have done, the C1 Pro has the clearest night vision and also the only WiFi camera that I tested that is 1440p which is a 4MP camera. The Argus cameras comes in second but the Argus 2 has the Starlight night vision sensor..so we will be comparing video footages of regular night vision and color night vision between these cameras…so let’s gets started..

First off, I would like to thank Reolink for providing me with the Argus Pro for this comparison video. The cameras look exactly the same on the outside. There are ony 2 differences between these 2. The Argus 2 has a magnetic bottom which you can attach it to a steel ball mount. The Argus Pro doesn’t have a magnet at the bottom.

The other major difference is the starlight night vision. The Argus 2 has a different image sensor than the Argus Pro. Starlight sensors are more sensitive to low light. It uses larger sensors with wider aperture to collect more light at night.

With the Argus cameras, you can toggle between color, black and white and automatic using the app. If you set the camera in auto which most of you will, it will automatically turn on the IR LEDS and change the footage to black and white at night. When you set it to color, it will always be in color mode even at night and same thing with black and white. Remember, there is a 30 dollar difference between the Argus 2 with the starlight sensor compared to the Argus Pro.

My first testing will be done indoors so that I can control the lighting but I will also do some tests outside where these cameras are most likely to be installed

So, let’s start with the lights on.

Now, you all might be asking how about outside footage. The cameras are made to be weather proof anyways and they are mostly going to be installed outside….So, I made a little mount so that I can do a side by side comparison and placed it near my maximus floodlight so that we will be able to see color footage at night with floodlights on….

Just a heads up also guys, while I was fiddling with the settings on my Argus 2, I noticed that Reolink is now offering a beta version of their cloud service. So, I signed up and got my app updated.

To access your motion triggered cloud recordings, go to the side bar menu and you will see the cloud recordings option which you will be able to view and download uploaded footage. During testing, it only uploads around 6 seconds of footage at a time. So, this is not perfect yet but it looks very promising.

So, what do you think guys? Is the 30 dollar difference of the Argus 2 worth it? or the Argus Pro is a cheaper but better alternative. Comment down below. Right now, the Argus Pro is $100 dollars while the Argus 2 is $130 bucks.
