Screw Loose In Your Wooden Cabinets? Stick A Toothpick In The Screw Hole

If you have a frequently used cabinet door like the one under the sink in your kitchen or bathroom, eventually the screws on the hinges will become loose. Tightening it multiple times will result in a bigger hole in the wood making the screw loose its grip. You will end up with a loose cabinet door and when you try to fix it by readjusting the hinge and screw it on a different location on the wood, then mostly you will be messing up the alignment of the door resulting to an unlevel and crooked cabinet door.

A quick hack to fix this is to get a toothpick and place it on the screw hole. Depending on the size of the hole, you might need more than one toothpick. Next step is to break the toothpick so that it will be on the same level of the wood. Get the hinge back and screw it in. Now, you will be able to tighten up the screw again.

If you want a more permanent fix, you can add a dab of wood glue on the toothpick before you shove it in on the screw hole. But, you will need to let the glue to dry first for an hour or more before putting the screw back in.
