Today, we are going to compare indoor Wifi security cameras from different brands as to their video quality in daytime or I guess indoors with the lights on and also when the lights are off and with their night vision on. We will also check out their digital zoom to see how clear the footage is when zoomed in.

I did a night vision one with my outdoor security cameras a month or so ago which I’ll link in the description down below, so now, we are going to check out the Wifi cameras that are specifically made for indoors.

For the contenders… we have the Nest Cam indoor, the Reolink C1 Pro, the Yi 1080p home camera, the Wyze cam version 2, the zencam which I’m reviewing right now and will be posting the video next week and the Blink indoor camera.

The Nest, Yi, Wyze cam and the Zencam are 1080p cameras. The Reolink C1 pro is a 4MP 1440p resolution and the Blink is a 720p. So, I based this comparison video as being an indoor cameras and not on the resolution.

I have reviewed most of these cameras except for the Nest Cam indoor which I borrowed from a friend and the zen cam which I’ll be doing a full review next week. I’ll link those individual reviews down below.

So, for the setup, I’ll be doing a video test at 10 feet and a snapshot at 25 feet. For point of reference, these are the shots taken from my Canon G7X at around the same distance from the Wifi cameras. First test will be with the lights on and then we will do a night vision test with the lights off and with the camera’s infrared LEDS or night vision on. Now, on the night vision test, I made sure that the only LEDs that are on are from the camera that is being tested and all other infrareds of the other cameras are turned off.

Also, all cameras are set on their highest definition recording and the Nest will be the only one streaming to the cloud at any given time. All other camera’s motion detection are off and records to a micro SD card except for the Blink. Also, you can see that this test is being done past midnight so there should be no internet or wifi congestion. So, I try to eliminate any other factors that can affect the video quality of these cameras.

So, let’s start the test.

First, with lights on. BTW, the lights inside the house are soft white so they are running at 3000 kelvin range. This is the footage from the Nest Cam indoor at 10 feet.

This is the screen shot at 25 feet. The Nest is one camera I tested that doesn’t have a snapshot icon on their app. It has a zoom feature which I’ll show you later on.

Next is from the Yi home 1080p camera at 10 feet.

Next is the Blink at 10 feet. This is the only camera I tested that is 720p.

Last is the Reolink C1 Pro. This is a pan and tilt camera and is also a 1440p which is higher resolution than a 1080p

Now for the night vision test… first is the Nest Cam.

At 10 feet…btw it is pitch black and I cannot see anything..
then going to 25 feet.

At 25 feet, you can barely see anything.

Next, we have the Yi Home 1080p…
Same thing at 25 feet..too grainy

Next is the Wyze Cam V2

At 25 feet, it is better than the Nest or the Yi but still not useable

Next is the zencam. This camera only has 1 infrared LED just like the Blink XT but look at it’s night vision…it is way better than most of them. Now, I’m convinced that the more infrared LEDs you have the better the video quality is just a myth.

Then we have the Blink – this is the indoor blink which actually doesn’t have night vision but uses a bright LED light at night when it senses motion. This actually can be a good thing because it would startle anybody when it lights up and a lot of people would think that this is just a motion sensor light..so either they would continue what they are doing or stop and get out as fast as they can.

Last but not the least, we have the Reolink C1 Pro…which has the best night vision out of the bunch… I need to compare this with the Reolink Argus 2’s starlight night vision and see which one is better… probably in a future video. Also remember that this is a 1440p camera.

All of these cameras have a digital zoom and because they have a wider field of view from 110 degrees to 130 degrees, you will need to zoom in to be able to identify a person. We will see how it looks when the camera zoom in on my face at 25 feet. We have the nest indoor cam first which has a 130 degree FOV.

It has an 8x digital zoom and also have an enhanced feature which if you click on the plus sign on the left of the screen, it will enhance and set the recording zoomed in which is a pretty cool feature.

Next we have the Yi home camera which has a 112 degree FOV and has 4x digital zoom

Then, we have the Wyze cam which has a 110 degree FOV and has an 8 times digital zoom.

Next we have the zencam which has a 115 degree FOV. It has a digital zoom but I couldn’t find the manufacturer’s specs as to how much. But comparing the zoomed in picture, it is more than likely an 8 times digital zoom.

Then we have the Blink indoor camera which has a 110 degree field of view but also hasn’t specified what their zoom is but looks similar to the Yi Home which is 4 times digital zoom.

Lastly, we have the Reolink C1 Pro which has a 105 degree FOV. They haven’t published what their digital zoom is but it looks like it is more than 8 times. It is also the clearest one compared to all the other cameras.
