Security Cameras, License Plates & Glare at Night – What You Can Do

Today, I’ll answer the question that a lot of you have asked me before…and why I don’t do the license plate clarity test, that I do during daytime with security cameras,…at night. This video will answer that.

With new security and wifi cameras hitting the market and most of them already now have built in spotlights or floodlights, a lot might think that those lights would pretty much see everything especially license plates of cars passing by at night. Well, the short answer is No. There are a lot of factors involved like speed of movement and angle of the plates, resolution, FOV, shutter speed of the camera..just to name a few and also the glare which we will be talking about on this video. License plates has a reflective coating which bounces light and IR but there is a way to prevent that.
