Today, I’ll show you this Hoover brand LED surface mounted multi-color accent lights that I got from our local Sam’s club. They are selling it for $20 bucks and I thought that I can install these under my kitchen cabinets just to have some accent lighting. The price is pretty good for 5 lights that can change in colors from white, green, red and blue. So, I just have to buy it to try it out. It also comes with a remote so that you can control the lights simultaneously and also has a timer for 10 mins, 30 mins, an hour or 2 hours so that you can save on the batteries. Also these lights comes with batteries which I think for the price is a good deal.
Alright, here on the backside we can check out the features of these lights. The remote has on and off, a manual dimmer, color selector (we have white, red, blue and green lights – I can already see green for Christmas) and timer settings.
So, let’s open this up…
Here, we have the light which looks like a flying saucer.. it comes with double sided mounting tape so that you can easily install it under your cabinets or anywhere you want to put it. To open it up to put in the batteries, just unscrew it like so. Each light needs 3 triple A batteries which are already included in the package. The batteries themselves – 15 of them costs around $10 dollars retail so basically this light only costs around 10 dollars. $19.98 is a pretty good deal for these lights.
Pressing the light will turn it on, so you don’t have to have the remote, pressing it again will scroll to different colors..red.. green… blue and off…
Alright, lets setup and put the batteries on the rest of the lights. Let’s check out the remote..on..hmm one is green..clicking the white..ok turns them all to white light… cool..red..blue and green…
it also has a dimmer function in which you can lower down the light or brigthen it up..Take note guys that LED lights shows flickering on camera but in reality, it is a constant light..or that is how human vision perceived it.. it is more noticeable if I dim it down as I am looking at the camera’s viewfinder..so basically, it doesn’t flicker as you are seeing it on this video…
Now, it is time to install it under my kitchen cabinets. Mounting tape are included so you can just peel and stick it. I’ll just stick it under the cabinets like so…and you can turn it on and scroll through the colors by tapping it. Ok, lets install the rest of the lights.
Now, I installed all the lights under the cabinets to have some accent lighting and let’s see how it looks.
Using the remote..turn it on.. You will need to point the remote to the lights to be able to control them. See the farther one, I’m not able to control until I point the remote at it. Wow, cool… I like it. Let’s turn off the main lights and see how it looks.
I placed the other one on this side of the cabinet. Overall, I like this and I bet the batteries will last because these are LED lights and this is more of a conversational piece than anything in my case anyways..So, I’ll be turning it on mostly whenever we have friends around or during parties….I can already see red and green during the Christmas Holidays..
Now you can set the timer on how long you want the lights to be on..10 mins or 30 or an hour or 2 hours.
Overall, I like these lights. If you cannot find one at your local Sams club, there is a link below at amazon which is a little bit pricier but I think it is still a good deal.
