Wyze Cam Pan vs Yi Dome 1080p vs Reolink C1 Pro – Comparing PTZ WiFi Security Cameras

Today we are going to compare 3 Pan and Tilt WiFi Security Cameras. We have the Yi Dome 1080p Camera, the Reolink C1 Pro and the Wyze Cam Pan. The Wyze Cam and the Yi are both 1080p and the C1 Pro is a 1440p…We will be comparing them for video and audio quality, pan and tilt features, motion notification time, 2 way audio, pricing and features they have that the other cameras don’t.

Also, I have reviewed these cameras individually and I’ll link them in the description down below.

So, let’s get on with the video.

The Wyze Cam pan is a pretty affordable 1080p pan and tilt camera that Wyze recently released this year. It is priced at 29.99 dollars plus 8 dollar shipping and it will cost around 38 bucks out the door. It is pretty much the cheapest pan and tilt camera with 1080p resolution out there.

Then, we have the Yi Dome Camera and this one is a 1080p. They also sell a 720p version of this. For the 1080p it is priced at $60 dollars…but there is different version of this… that Yi recently released and is called the Yi CLoud Home camera which is also a 1080p. I really haven’t checked this out fully but I’ll be doing a review and comparison between the older Yi Dome 1080p in my future videos. The main difference between the 2 is the price. The cloud cam is only priced at $47.00.

The next camera that we will compare is the Reolink C1 Pro. This camera is a class on it’s own because it is not a 1080p. It is a 1440p which is a higher resolution than the other 2 cameras…and you will see the difference in the video quality in the sample footage later on. It is priced at $75 dollars.

Let’s check out the field of view. The Wyze cam has a 120° FOV recording at 15 frames per second, The Yi has 112° and also has 15 fps. The Reolink C1 pro only has 80° FOV but it can record up to 30 FPS. Superimposing the screen shots and you will see the difference.

As to the pan and tilt function, the Wyze cam can pan 360° and tilt up and down 93°. The Yi can pan 345° and tilt 115° and the C1 Pro can pan 355° and tilt up or down 105°. All of these cameras have a digital zoom. The Wyze Cam has 8x zoom, the Yi has 4x and the C1 Pro didn’t put it on their spec sheet but it is more than 8 times.

So, let’s test out the features of each camera’s pan and tilt. The Wyze cam has the fastest and responsive controls and it can pan as fast as 110° per second. Aside from manually panning the camera, the Wyze app has the pan scan in which you can program way points or areas that you want to monitor up to 4 of them and the camera will cycle through these waypoints and stay for 10 seconds before moving to another area.

It also has motion tracking in which the camera will follow a moving object which works but not reliably. The Wyze Pan Cam occasionally will overshoot and will lose the moving subject. The motion tracking feature depends really on how fast the subject moves and how far they are from the camera. This applies to every camera that has this feature. It works good if there is a distance between them but if the subject just darts from left to right of the camera’s FOV, it can easily lose track of the subject.

The Yi has a slower pan and tilt speed as compared to the Wyze cam and controls are pretty responsive but the live video feed has a lag. It also has an auto cruise feature in which you can set it to just pan around 360 degrees which you can also schedule it at any time of the day or you can set specific points by bookmarking it and the camera will stop at the bookmarked position and stay there for 10 seconds before moving to the next one.

It also has the motion tracking feature which is the same as the Wyze cam pan, it is not reliable. It will also lose track of the moving object when it is close to the camera and moving fast. If there is a 20 or 30 feet distance, it tracks more accurately.

The Reolink C1 Pro has about the same panning speed as the Yi. It also has an auto panning feature which it will rotate around back and forth. You can also mark positions just like the Yi and the Wyze except that it doesn’t automatically pan to those areas like the pan scan on the Wyze Cam Pan or the auto cruise to bookmarked positions on the Yi. You have to manually choose the marked positions everytime.

All of these cameras have local recording via a micro SD card and with the Yi, you can also sign up for cloud storage with a monthly fee which the cheapest is around 5 dollars a month and with the Wyze cam pan, the cloud recordings are free for the last 14 days for motion and sound triggered events. The only caveat to that though, is that it will only store 12 second clips of the video. As to the Reolink C1 Pro, you can use their NVR system or upload video clips to an FTP server.

All cameras can also be set to record 24/7. They usually default to record only during motion but if you insist in 24/7 you can. With the Yi, it is more of in between the lines… if you toggle off “activity detection recording” then that means it will record 24/7. As to the Wyze Cam Pan, it is in their storage options to toggle to continously record and with the C1 Pro, it is also on the recording schedule that you can set all to the time range but there is a red warning stating that you will risk damaging your SD card if you choose 24/7 recording.

Now, time to do some testing. First, video and audio quality.

Now, let’s check out night vision footage…

Now, let’s check the motion notification speed…let’s see how fast the cameras will notify us when motion is detected.

I tried this several times and the Reolink C1 Pro is almost instantaneous and the Wyze Cam has a delay of about 30 seconds and the Yi around 40 seconds. Cool off period on all cameras are around 2 minutes.

Let’s check out 2 way audio.

As to Smart Home integration like on the Alexa, the wyze cam is fully integrated and when you set it up, you will be able to view live footage from your Wyze cams on Amazon echo show or spot and also on Fire TV. The Wyze cam is also integrated with the IFTTT.

Yi has limited integration and the most you can do is to turn on or off the camera which really has no practical purpose.

Reolink C1 Pro doesn’t have Alexa integration.
