Use Your Power Drill As A Spin Scrubber

I saw an infomercial on TV lately about the Hurricane spin scrubber and I thought to myself that I can use a brush attached to my drill to do the same job. I barely use my drill anyways and plus I don’t have to spend 40 bucks for the spin scrubber.

So, I went to my local Walmart and bought me a round brush for less than 3 dollars. The only round brush they have is the one that has a built in soap dispenser. It already has a hole in the middle which it will be easier for me to modify and screw in a machine bolt so that I can attach it to my drill.

For this hack, you will also need a drill, a 1/4 inch drill bit, a 1/4 inch machine bolt which is at least 2 1/2 or more inches in length. This one I have is 2 1/2 inches, a 1/4 inch nut, a locking washer and flat washers.

First thing we need to do is to try to remove the labeling…then this push rod..our goal is just to get to the brush and the hole. We also need to take off the dispenser itself. If you have a longer bolt, then you can get by leaving it on but in my case, I need to remove it. Well, twisting it off might not work. I can pound and break this with a hammer but Ill try squeezing it first with my adjustable pliers and see if I can twist it off. Well, I guess, I need to break it like so. Then I can take off just the brush itself.

Now, we just need to put in the bolt which I have a feeling that I need to drill the hole a bit bigger. So, this is where we will attach the 1/4 drill bit and drill the hole bigger so that we can put in the machine bolt.

Then we can thread in the bolt like so, put in a washer on the other side, then a locking washer and the nut. Then we just need to tighten it and viola we have a brush attachment for the drill.

Now, you can just hook it up to your drill just like putting in a drill bit.

Let’s see how it works… first let’s try grout brushing. I just squirted some cleaner and just scrub away..definitely much easier and faster than using elbow grease…you will be done in half the time or even less if you compare it to manually scrubbing the grout lines.

Now, for my glass shower door. I’ll spray some cleaner and scrub, scrub, scrub…you can also reverse the rotation of the drill for a more thorough clean…then just wipe it off. Now, I have to do the other side of the door because it is grimy too…scrub scrub scrub then wipe it off…..now it is much cleaner…Thank you guys for watching and I hope you like this little life hack.
